Side Cameras Installation Guide

The RouteMate Side Cameras provide a wider, safer field of view by covering blind spots that the front-facing dashcam cannot see. Built with durable magnet brackets for quick installation, they improve overall fleet safety.

Important: The RouteMate Side Cameras only work if the RouteMate AI Dashcam is already installed and fully calibrated. Complete that installation first before proceeding.

Package Contents

  • 1× Side Camera 1 with magnet bracket — 4-pin, marked with an “X” on top
  • 1× SC1 Extension Cable
  • 1× Side Camera 2 with magnet bracket — 6-pin, no “X”
  • 1× SC2 Extension Cable
  • 1× Media Cable

Note: Both side cameras come with a pre-installed magnet bracket for easy mounting and future replacements.

Step 1 — Position the Side Cameras

  1. Select the mounting location (usually the truck doors or side panels).
  2. Peel off the 3M adhesive tape backing on the magnet bracket.
  3. Firmly attach each camera to the chosen spot.

Tip: The 3M tape supports the magnets and helps keep the cameras securely in place over time.

Step 2 — Connect the Extension Cables

  1. Connect each camera to its matching extension cable:
    • SC1 (4-pin, “X” on top) → SC1 Extension Cable
    • SC2 (6-pin, no “X”) → SC2 Extension Cable
  2. Screw the connectors tightly to secure each connection.
  3. Slide the rubber sleeve fully over each connection to prevent rust, corrosion, and electrical issues.

Step 3 — Route the Extension Cables

  1. Carefully run the extension cables into the truck cabin.
  2. Hide the cables neatly along existing wiring paths.
  3. Make sure the cables are safe from pulls, cuts, or sharp edges.

Step 4 — Connect to the Media Cable

Inside the cabin, connect the extension cables to the Media Cable:

  • SC1 (4-pin, “X”) → V-IN on Media Cable.

    Do NOT connect to V-OUT — the camera will not function.

  • SC2 (6-pin) → IPC (black cable) on Media Cable.

Double-check that all connections are firm and that the rubber sleeves are in place.

Step 5 — Connect the Media Cable to the RouteMate AI Dashcam

  1. Plug the Media Cable securely into the RouteMate AI Dashcam unit.
  2. Make sure the connector is tightly locked.

Step 6 — Adjust the Camera Lenses

Each camera has an arrow marker. The arrow must point downward (toward the ground) for correct video orientation.

To adjust:

  1. Loosen the two side screws with the provided tool.
  2. Rotate the lens until the arrow points downward.
  3. Tighten the screws securely to lock the lens in place.

Recommended: Check the Live View feed while adjusting to confirm the client’s preferred viewing angle.

Final Testing and Verification

  1. Verify that both cameras are firmly mounted and that adjustment screws are tight.
  2. Confirm that:
    • Rubber sleeves cover all cable connections.
    • No cables are pinched, loose, or exposed.
    • Both cameras appear online in the system.
    • All channels are visible in the client’s interface.
  3. Perform a full functionality test before finishing.

Installation Complete
