Offline Mode
RouteMate is designed to keep working even when you lose internet connectivity. Your data is stored locally on your device, so you can continue logging your hours and performing key tasks while offline.
How Offline Mode Works
Section titled “How Offline Mode Works”When your phone or tablet loses its internet connection (whether you are in a dead zone, have no cell service, or Wi-Fi drops), the app automatically switches to offline mode. All your data is cached locally on your device, so you can keep using the app without interruption.
You do not need to do anything to activate offline mode — it happens automatically.
What You Can Do Offline
Section titled “What You Can Do Offline”Even without an internet connection, you can:
- Change your duty status (switch between Off Duty, Sleeper Berth, Driving, and On Duty)
- View your daily logs and log history
- Perform vehicle inspections (DVIR)
- Add annotations and notes to your log entries
- View previously loaded documents
What Requires an Internet Connection
Section titled “What Requires an Internet Connection”Some features need to communicate with the server and will not work until you are back online:
- Syncing your data with the RouteMate server (so your fleet manager can see your updates)
- Transferring DOT inspection data via Web Service
- Sending or responding to co-driver requests
- Uploading documents or photos to the server
- Receiving dispatch updates or messages from your fleet manager
Note: Actions that require the internet will not fail silently. They will be queued and show as “pending” until you regain connectivity.
Automatic Syncing
Section titled “Automatic Syncing”Once your device reconnects to the internet, RouteMate automatically syncs your data with the server. You do not need to manually trigger a sync.
The app uses two sync intervals to keep your data up to date:
- A 1-minute sync for high-priority data (such as duty status changes)
- A 5-minute sync for other data
This means your fleet manager and the server will be caught up within minutes of you coming back online.
Pending Status
Section titled “Pending Status”While you are offline, some actions may show a “pending” indicator. This means the action has been saved locally and is waiting to be sent to the server. Once the sync completes after you regain internet, the pending status will clear and your data will be fully up to date.
Tip: If you notice items stuck in “pending” status for a long time after regaining internet, try closing and reopening the app. This can help kick off a fresh sync cycle.
