Filtering and Search
When you manage a fleet of dozens or hundreds of vehicles, finding the right driver or vehicle quickly is essential. RouteMate gives you several ways to filter and search the dashboard so you can focus on exactly what you need.
Filtering Vehicles by Status
Section titled “Filtering Vehicles by Status”The dashboard lets you filter vehicles based on their current motion status. Look for the status filter buttons or tabs near the top of the vehicle card list. You can filter by:
| Filter | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Moving | Vehicles that are currently in motion |
| Idle | Vehicles with the engine running but not moving |
| Stopped | Vehicles that are parked with the engine off |
| Disconnected | Vehicles whose ELD or GPS device has lost connection |
| All | Every vehicle regardless of status |
Click a filter to narrow the vehicle cards and map markers to just that group. Click All to go back to the full view.
Tip: Start your morning by clicking Disconnected to quickly spot any vehicles with ELD issues that need attention before drivers hit the road.
Searching by Driver Name or Vehicle ID
Section titled “Searching by Driver Name or Vehicle ID”Use the search bar at the top of the vehicle card list to find a specific driver or vehicle:
- Click into the search field.
- Start typing a driver’s name or a vehicle ID/unit number.
- The vehicle cards and map will instantly filter to show only matching results.
- Clear the search field to return to the full list.
The search is flexible — you can type a partial name or number, and RouteMate will show all matches.
Tip: If you remember only part of a driver’s name or a vehicle number, type what you know. RouteMate searches as you type, so even a few characters can narrow things down.
Filtering by Group
Section titled “Filtering by Group”If your fleet is organized into groups (e.g., by terminal, region, or team), you can filter the dashboard to show only vehicles in a specific group:
- Find the group selector at the top of the dashboard or in the top bar.
- Click it to see a dropdown of available groups.
- Select the group you want to view.
- The map, vehicle cards, and status counts will update to show only vehicles in that group.
- To see the full fleet again, select All Groups or clear the group filter.
Note: Group filters apply across the entire dashboard, not just the map. Reports, compliance views, and other sections will also reflect the selected group.
Date Range and Time Period Filters
Section titled “Date Range and Time Period Filters”Some dashboard views, reports, and compliance pages let you filter by date range or time period. These filters are especially useful for:
- Reviewing driver logs for a specific day or week
- Running reports for a custom date range
- Viewing historical vehicle locations and trips
- Checking compliance status over a particular period
To use a date filter:
- Look for the date picker or time range selector in the section you are viewing.
- Click it to open a calendar or preset options.
- Select a start date and end date, or choose a preset like “Today,” “Yesterday,” “Last 7 Days,” or “This Month.”
- Confirm your selection. The view will update to show data for the chosen period.
Tip: When running compliance reports, use the date range filter to check specific weeks or pay periods. This makes it easy to catch issues before they become patterns.
Saving Filter Preferences
Section titled “Saving Filter Preferences”RouteMate remembers some of your filter preferences so you do not have to set them every time you log in. Depending on the section:
- Your last selected group may be remembered across sessions.
- Dashboard widget layout preferences are saved to your account.
- Some report filters can be saved as presets for quick access.
If you find yourself applying the same filters every day, check whether the section supports saving your preferences. This can save you a few clicks each morning.
Combining Filters
Section titled “Combining Filters”You can use multiple filters at the same time for a more focused view. For example:
- Select a group (e.g., “East Coast Terminal”) and then filter by status (e.g., “Moving”) to see only vehicles in motion at that terminal.
- Search for a driver name while a group filter is active to find a specific person within a specific team.
- Apply a date range along with a group filter to run targeted reports.
Filters work together to narrow your view. Clear individual filters to broaden your results, or reset all filters to return to the default view.
