Driver and Dispatcher Ratings

The rating system in RouteMate allows fleet managers, dispatchers, and drivers to evaluate each other’s performance after loads are completed. These ratings create a feedback loop that helps improve communication, accountability, and overall operational quality across your fleet.

After a load is completed, participants can rate the experience:

  • Dispatchers rate drivers on factors like communication, on-time performance, and professionalism.
  • Drivers rate dispatchers on factors like load quality, communication, and accuracy of load information.
  • Fleet managers can view all ratings across the organization.

Ratings accumulate over time to build a performance profile for each driver and dispatcher, making it easy to identify top performers and areas where improvement is needed.

To view ratings for your team:

  1. Navigate to Dispatch > Ratings from the main menu.
  2. You will see a summary view with average ratings for both drivers and dispatchers.
  3. Use the tabs or filters to switch between Driver Ratings and Dispatcher Ratings.
  4. Click on an individual’s name to see their full rating history, including:
    • Overall average rating.
    • Rating breakdown by criteria.
    • Individual ratings from specific loads with timestamps.
    • Trends over time (improving, declining, or stable).

Tip: Review ratings during regular performance check-ins with your team. Ratings provide objective, load-by-load feedback that complements your own observations and makes performance conversations more productive.

Ratings can be submitted after a load reaches Completed or Delivered status:

  1. Open the completed load from the Dispatch Board or Completed Loads list.
  2. Look for the Rate option in the load detail panel.
  3. Select a star rating (typically on a 1-to-5 scale) for each criterion.
  4. Optionally, add a written comment to provide more context about the rating.
  5. Submit the rating.

Submitted ratings are visible to fleet managers. Depending on your company’s settings, the rated individual may also see their ratings (with or without the rater’s identity).

Note: Ratings are most useful when they are submitted consistently. Encourage your dispatchers to rate drivers after every completed load so that the performance data is representative and meaningful.

The specific criteria evaluated in each rating may include:

CriterionWhat It Measures
CommunicationHow responsive and clear the driver was during the load — returning calls, providing updates, and reporting issues promptly.
On-Time PerformanceWhether the driver met the scheduled pickup and delivery times.
ProfessionalismHow the driver represented the company at shipper and receiver facilities.
DocumentationWhether the driver completed all required paperwork accurately (bills of lading, proof of delivery, etc.).
Load CareHow well the driver handled and secured the freight.
CriterionWhat It Measures
Load Information AccuracyWhether the load details (addresses, times, commodity info) provided to the driver were correct.
CommunicationHow responsive and helpful the dispatcher was when the driver had questions or issues.
Load QualityWhether the load was a reasonable assignment given the driver’s location, hours, and preferences.
Problem ResolutionHow effectively the dispatcher handled unexpected issues like delays, changes, or breakdowns.

Tip: Share the rating criteria with your team so everyone understands what is being evaluated. When people know what is measured, they tend to perform better in those areas.
