Vehicle Tracking
RouteMate provides real-time and historical location tracking for every vehicle in your fleet equipped with an ELD device. The Vehicle Tracking page lets you see where your vehicles are right now, replay past trips on the map, and review detailed trip history.
Real-Time Vehicle Location Tracking
Section titled “Real-Time Vehicle Location Tracking”The Vehicle Tracking map shows the current position of all active vehicles in your fleet.
How to track your vehicles in real time:
Section titled “How to track your vehicles in real time:”- Navigate to Location Data and then Vehicle Tracking.
- The map will load showing pins for all vehicles that are currently reporting their location.
- Click on any vehicle pin to see a summary popup with:
- Vehicle name and ID.
- Current driver.
- Speed and heading.
- Last reported time.
- Use the vehicle list panel on the side to search for or select a specific vehicle.
The map updates automatically as new GPS data comes in, so you always have a current picture of where your fleet is operating.
Tip: If a vehicle is not appearing on the map, check that the ELD device is connected and the vehicle is powered on. You can also check the ELD Disconnects page to see if the device has lost connection.
Historical Trip Replay
Section titled “Historical Trip Replay”Trip replay lets you watch a past journey unfold on the map, step by step. This is helpful for verifying routes, investigating incidents, or understanding how a driver got from point A to point B.
How to replay a trip:
Section titled “How to replay a trip:”- From the Vehicle Tracking page, select a vehicle.
- Choose the Trip History or Replay option.
- Select the date and the specific trip you want to replay.
- Press Play to watch the vehicle’s route animate on the map.
- Use the playback controls to pause, speed up, slow down, or scrub to a specific point in the trip.
During replay, you can see the vehicle’s speed and location at each point along the route.
Tip: Use trip replay alongside the safety alerts timeline to correlate driving events with specific locations on the route.
Trip History
Section titled “Trip History”The trip history view gives you a detailed record of all completed trips for a vehicle, including:
- Start and end times — When the trip began and when it ended.
- Start and end locations — Where the trip originated and where it concluded.
- Total mileage — The distance covered during the trip.
- Duration — How long the trip took from start to finish.
- Route — The path the vehicle followed, shown on the map.
You can view trip history for any vehicle going back as far as your data retention period allows.
Filtering Location Data
Section titled “Filtering Location Data”RouteMate gives you flexible filtering options to find exactly the data you are looking for:
- Date range — Select a start and end date to view trips and location data from a specific period.
- Time range — Narrow your view to a particular time of day within your selected dates.
- Vehicle — Focus on a single vehicle or compare multiple vehicles.
Note: The precision and frequency of location data points depend on your ELD device settings and GPS signal quality. In areas with poor GPS coverage (tunnels, dense urban areas, etc.), location data may be less detailed.
