Editing Log Entries
Sometimes your logs need corrections. Maybe you forgot to switch your status when you stopped for a break, or a duty status was recorded with the wrong time. RouteMate lets you edit existing entries and insert new ones so your records accurately reflect your day.
When You Might Need to Edit Logs
Section titled “When You Might Need to Edit Logs”Common reasons for editing include:
- You forgot to change your duty status at the right time (for example, you went Off Duty but the app still showed you as On Duty).
- A status change was recorded with an incorrect time or location.
- You need to add a duty status that was missed entirely.
- Your fleet manager has suggested changes that you need to review.
Note: All edits are tracked and recorded. Auditors and your carrier can see the full edit history, so make sure your changes accurately reflect what actually happened.
Editing an Existing Duty Status Entry
Section titled “Editing an Existing Duty Status Entry”- Open the daily log you want to edit. (See Viewing Your Daily Logs if you need help finding it.)
- In the Events tab, find the entry you want to change.
- Tap the entry to open it.
- You can modify the following fields:
- Time — Adjust when the status began.
- Duration — Change how long the status lasted.
- Location — Update the location where the status change occurred.
- Add an optional remark explaining why you made the edit.
- Tap Save to apply your changes.
Tip: Adding a brief remark when you edit an entry (for example, “Forgot to switch to Off Duty at truck stop”) helps explain the change if it is ever reviewed.
Inserting a New Duty Status Entry
Section titled “Inserting a New Duty Status Entry”If a duty status was missed entirely, you can insert a new entry:
- Open the daily log for the day in question.
- Tap the option to add a new entry (typically a ”+” button).
- Select the status type — choose the duty status you need to add (Off Duty, Sleeper Berth, Driving, or On Duty).
- Set the time and duration — specify when the status started and how long it lasted.
- Enter the location — type in where you were when this status was active.
- Add remarks (optional) — include a note explaining why you are adding this entry.
- Tap Save to insert the entry into your log.
The log painter graph will update automatically to reflect the new entry.
Handling Pending Edits from Your Fleet Manager
Section titled “Handling Pending Edits from Your Fleet Manager”Your fleet manager can propose changes to your logs from the web dashboard. When this happens, you will see a Pending Edits indicator on the affected log.
To review pending edits:
- Open the log that shows the pending edits indicator.
- You will see the proposed changes highlighted or listed separately.
- Review each proposed change carefully.
- For each edit, choose to:
- Accept — The change is applied to your log.
- Reject — The change is discarded and your original entry remains.
Note: You should review pending edits as soon as possible. Unresolved edits can affect your compliance status and may be flagged during an inspection.
Tip: If you are unsure why your fleet manager proposed a change, reach out to them for clarification before accepting or rejecting.
