HOS Preferences
The Preferences tab in Settings lets you configure how your Hours of Service are calculated and enable special driving statuses. These settings affect your HOS clocks and duty status options throughout the app.
Accessing HOS Preferences
Section titled “Accessing HOS Preferences”- Open the Menu by tapping the menu icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap the Preferences tab.
Vehicle Type
Section titled “Vehicle Type”Select the type of vehicle you are operating. This setting is used in HOS calculations because different vehicle types may have different rules.
Cycle Rule
Section titled “Cycle Rule”Choose the HOS cycle rule that applies to you:
- USA 60 hours / 7 days — You cannot drive after being on duty for 60 hours in a rolling 7-day period.
- USA 70 hours / 8 days — You cannot drive after being on duty for 70 hours in a rolling 8-day period.
Note: Your fleet manager typically sets this based on your carrier’s operating schedule. If you are unsure which cycle applies to you, check with your fleet manager before changing it.
Special Statuses
Section titled “Special Statuses”These toggles control whether certain special duty statuses are available to you:
Personal Conveyance
Section titled “Personal Conveyance”When enabled, you can switch to Personal Conveyance status for off-duty driving that is personal in nature (such as driving to a restaurant or moving to a safe parking location). Personal Conveyance time does not count against your HOS clocks.
Yard Move
Section titled “Yard Move”When enabled, you can use Yard Move status when moving the vehicle within a yard or terminal. Yard Move time counts as on-duty but not as driving time.
Manual Driving
Section titled “Manual Driving”When enabled, you can manually record driving time even when the ELD does not detect vehicle movement. This is useful in specific situations where the ELD may not automatically detect driving.
ELD Exempt Status
Section titled “ELD Exempt Status”Toggle this on if you are exempt from ELD requirements. This is the same setting available in the General tab. When enabled, the app will not require an active ELD connection.
Adverse Driving Exemption
Section titled “Adverse Driving Exemption”The Adverse Driving Exemption gives you extra driving time when you encounter unexpected weather or road conditions that make driving slower or more difficult than planned.
To activate it:
- Tap the Adverse Driving Exemption toggle.
- Read the confirmation message carefully — it explains when this exemption is appropriate to use.
- Confirm that you are activating it due to actual adverse conditions.
The app tracks when you use this exemption, so make sure you only enable it when conditions genuinely warrant the extra driving time.
Note: The Adverse Driving Exemption is intended for conditions you did not know about before starting your trip (such as an unexpected snowstorm or a major accident causing significant delays). It is not for planned driving in known bad conditions.
HOS Warning Messages
Section titled “HOS Warning Messages”Toggle HOS Warning Messages on or off to control whether the app shows you warnings as you approach the end of your available driving or on-duty time.
- On — The app will alert you before your HOS clocks expire, giving you time to plan your next stop.
- Off — No warnings will be shown. You will need to monitor your clocks manually.
Tip: Keeping HOS warnings turned on is recommended. These alerts help you avoid violations by giving you advance notice before your available time runs out.
Other Preferences
Section titled “Other Preferences”Keep Trailer ID
Section titled “Keep Trailer ID”When enabled, the app will remember your trailer ID and automatically populate it on new log entries. This saves you from re-entering the trailer number every time.
Keep Shipping Docs
Section titled “Keep Shipping Docs”When enabled, the app will remember your shipping document information and carry it forward to new log entries. This is helpful if you are making multiple stops for the same load.
Tip: If you frequently haul the same trailer or carry the same shipping documents across multiple days, turning on these options saves you time when your logs are created.
