Groups

Organize your drivers, vehicles, and assets into groups to simplify fleet management, filtering, and reporting.

Groups let you organize your fleet into logical segments based on how your business operates. You might create groups for each terminal location, geographic region, team, or division. Once your drivers, vehicles, and assets are assigned to groups, you can quickly filter the dashboard, reports, and other views to focus on just the units that matter to you.

For example, a fleet with terminals in Dallas, Chicago, and Atlanta could create three groups and assign each driver and vehicle to the appropriate terminal group.

To create a group:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Groups from the main menu.
  2. Click the Add Group button.
  3. Enter a group name that clearly identifies the purpose of the group (for example, “Dallas Terminal”, “East Coast Team”, or “Reefer Fleet”).
  4. Optionally, add a description to provide more context.
  5. Click Save to create the group.

Tip: Use clear, descriptive names for your groups. If your organization changes over time, well-named groups are easier to manage and less likely to cause confusion.

There are two ways to assign drivers and vehicles to a group:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Groups.
  2. Click on the group you want to manage.
  3. Use the Add Drivers or Add Vehicles buttons to assign units to the group.
  4. Select the drivers or vehicles from the list.
  5. Click Save.
  1. Open the driver’s or vehicle’s profile from the Admin > Drivers or Admin > Vehicles page.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Select the group from the Group dropdown.
  4. Click Save.

Note: Each driver or vehicle can be assigned to one group at a time. If you need a unit to appear in multiple segments, consider using a broader group structure.

  1. Navigate to Admin > Groups.
  2. Find the group and click its name.
  3. Click the Edit button.
  4. Update the group name, description, or member assignments.
  5. Click Save.
  1. Navigate to Admin > Groups.
  2. Find the group you want to delete.
  3. Click the Delete button (trash icon).
  4. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Note: Deleting a group does not delete the drivers, vehicles, or assets that were assigned to it. Those units will simply become unassigned and can be added to another group.

Once you have set up groups, you can use them as filters throughout RouteMate:

  • Dashboard — Use the group filter at the top of the dashboard to see only the vehicles and drivers in a specific group on the map and in summary widgets.
  • Reports — When generating any report, select a group to limit the report to only the units in that group.
  • Driver and Vehicle Lists — Filter the admin lists by group to quickly find the people and vehicles you are looking for.
  • Alerts — Configure alerts to apply to specific groups rather than the entire fleet.

Tip: If you manage a large fleet, groups are one of the most effective tools for staying organized. Start by creating groups that match your organizational structure, then use group filters everywhere to focus on what matters most to you.
