Vehicles
Your fleet vehicle inventory is the backbone of RouteMate. The Vehicles page gives you a centralized view of every motorized unit in your fleet, along with key details, real-time status, and quick access to related information like maintenance history and driver assignments.
Viewing Your Fleet Vehicle Inventory
Section titled “Viewing Your Fleet Vehicle Inventory”When you open the Vehicles page under Units, you will see a list of all vehicles registered in your fleet. You can scroll through the list or use the search bar and filters to find a specific vehicle quickly.
Each row in the vehicle list shows a summary of the vehicle’s key information at a glance, so you can scan your fleet without opening individual records.
Vehicle Details
Section titled “Vehicle Details”Select any vehicle from the list to view its full detail page. The following information is available for each vehicle:
- Vehicle ID — The unique identifier assigned to the vehicle within RouteMate.
- VIN — The Vehicle Identification Number, a standardized 17-character code unique to each vehicle.
- License Plate — The plate number and issuing state or jurisdiction.
- Make / Model — The manufacturer and model name (e.g., Freightliner Cascadia).
- Year — The model year of the vehicle.
Tip: Keeping your vehicle details accurate and up to date helps with compliance reporting and simplifies audits.
Vehicle Types
Section titled “Vehicle Types”RouteMate supports several vehicle types to reflect the variety of units in your fleet:

| Truck | Heavy-duty commercial trucks, including semi-trucks and box trucks. |
| Bus | Passenger buses and shuttle vehicles. |
| Car | Sedans, SUVs, and other light-duty vehicles. |
| Van | Cargo vans, sprinter vans, and passenger vans. |
Your vehicles are categorized by type to make filtering and reporting easier.
Vehicle Status Indicators
Section titled “Vehicle Status Indicators”Each vehicle displays a status indicator so you can see its current state at a glance:
- Active — The vehicle is in service and available for use.
- In Transit — The vehicle is currently on a trip.
- Idle — The vehicle is stationary but powered on.
- Inactive — The vehicle has been taken out of service.
Note: Status indicators update in near real-time based on data from the ELD device and GPS. If a vehicle’s status seems incorrect, check that the ELD device is properly connected.
Viewing Vehicle Location and Assignment
Section titled “Viewing Vehicle Location and Assignment”From the vehicle detail page, you can see:
- Current Location — The vehicle’s latest GPS position displayed on a map.
- Assigned Driver — The driver currently logged in to the ELD device on that vehicle.
- Current Trip — If the vehicle is in transit, you can view the active trip details.
This makes it easy to know exactly where each vehicle is and who is operating it at any given time.
Tip: Click on the map pin to open a larger map view with more details about the vehicle’s recent route.
Linking to Maintenance History
Section titled “Linking to Maintenance History”From any vehicle’s detail page, you can navigate directly to its maintenance history. This includes:
- Past service records and completed repairs.
- Upcoming scheduled maintenance items.
- Active vehicle fault codes (diagnostic trouble codes).
- Recent DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report) submissions.
Keeping maintenance records tied to each vehicle helps you stay on top of preventive care and avoid unexpected breakdowns.
